Dvara 20 · Contemplation

Contemplation: observe deeply, and let your own conduct be the example.

Throat centre · Vishuddha chakra · hexagram 20 of the I Ching

The gift

Presence in the now. It contemplates and then speaks or acts in the moment, without delay.

The shadow

Acting on impulse to be seen; being so busy in the moment that nothing is reflected on.

Every dvara has both. Which one shows depends on awareness, circumstances and the people around you, not on the dvara itself.

When you carry dvara 20

In the Dvara Method, if a planet sat in this 5.625° slice of the zodiac at your birth, or about 88 days before it, dvara 20 is part of your chart. It belongs to the Throat centre, which governs expression and making things happen, and sits in the Vishuddha chakra.

On its own it is an open dvara: a quality you have access to, but one that reaches for a partner. It completes a channel only when its partner dvaras are also present: 10, 34, 57. That partner can come from your own chart, from another person's chart, or from a passing transit. When it does, the Throat centre becomes defined, and the channel's energy becomes a consistent part of you or of the relationship.

Channel 20-57 · Spoken Intuition

With dvara 57 · The Gentle Wind in the Instinct centre

Instinct that speaks in the moment. Sudden insight voiced before reasoning catches up.

Cultivating dvara 20

The Dvara Method teaches that a dvara you were not born with can still be developed through contemplation. The quality to cultivate here is: Contemplation: observe deeply, and let your own conduct be the example. The Sun spends about six days in this dvara each year (around 21 May to 27 May), and the Moon passes through it roughly every 27 days, which makes natural times to practise.

Dvara 20 occupies the same slice of the zodiac as hexagram 20 of the I Ching. If you know the 64 gates from Human Design, it corresponds to gate 20. The Dvara Method is independent and reads it in its own words.
