Dvara 26 · Great Restraint

Held power: learn from the past and store your strength until it is needed.

Will centre · Anahata chakra · hexagram 26 of the I Ching

The gift

The art of persuasion and memory. It holds back strength until the right moment and knows how to present things well.

The shadow

Manipulation, exaggeration or selling more than is true.

Every dvara has both. Which one shows depends on awareness, circumstances and the people around you, not on the dvara itself.

When you carry dvara 26

In the Dvara Method, if a planet sat in this 5.625° slice of the zodiac at your birth, or about 88 days before it, dvara 26 is part of your chart. It belongs to the Will centre, which governs willpower, self-worth and promises, and sits in the Anahata chakra.

On its own it is an open dvara: a quality you have access to, but one that reaches for a partner. It completes a channel only when its partner dvara is also present: 44. That partner can come from your own chart, from another person's chart, or from a passing transit. When it does, the Will centre becomes defined, and the channel's energy becomes a consistent part of you or of the relationship.

Channel through dvara 26

Channel 26-44 · Persuasion

With dvara 44 · Coming to Meet in the Instinct centre

An instinct for what people want, combined with the will to offer it. Memory of past patterns used to influence.

Cultivating dvara 26

The Dvara Method teaches that a dvara you were not born with can still be developed through contemplation. The quality to cultivate here is: Held power: learn from the past and store your strength until it is needed. The Sun spends about six days in this dvara each year (around 9 December to 14 December), and the Moon passes through it roughly every 27 days, which makes natural times to practise.
