Dvara 28 · Great Excess

Courage to stand alone: hold your ground without fear when the load is heavy.

Instinct centre · Manipura chakra · hexagram 28 of the I Ching

The gift

Willingness to struggle for what gives life meaning. It takes risks when the cause is worth it.

The shadow

Fear of a meaningless life; fighting battles that have no real purpose.

Every dvara has both. Which one shows depends on awareness, circumstances and the people around you, not on the dvara itself.

When you carry dvara 28

In the Dvara Method, if a planet sat in this 5.625° slice of the zodiac at your birth, or about 88 days before it, dvara 28 is part of your chart. It belongs to the Instinct centre, which governs instinct, health and timing, and sits in the Manipura chakra.

On its own it is an open dvara: a quality you have access to, but one that reaches for a partner. It completes a channel only when its partner dvara is also present: 38. That partner can come from your own chart, from another person's chart, or from a passing transit. When it does, the Instinct centre becomes defined, and the channel's energy becomes a consistent part of you or of the relationship.

Channel through dvara 28

Channel 28-38 · Struggle for Meaning

With dvara 38 · Opposition in the Root centre

Fighting for what makes life worth living. Stubborn persistence against obstacles in search of purpose.

Cultivating dvara 28

The Dvara Method teaches that a dvara you were not born with can still be developed through contemplation. The quality to cultivate here is: Courage to stand alone: hold your ground without fear when the load is heavy. The Sun spends about six days in this dvara each year (around 25 October to 31 October), and the Moon passes through it roughly every 27 days, which makes natural times to practise.

Dvara 28 occupies the same slice of the zodiac as hexagram 28 of the I Ching. If you know the 64 gates from Human Design, it corresponds to gate 28. The Dvara Method is independent and reads it in its own words.
