Life Force centre · Svadhisthana chakra · hexagram 42 of the I Ching
The drive to bring things to completion. It grows a cycle until it is finished and fully learned from.
Unable to let a cycle end; or abandoning it before its lessons are in.
Every dvara has both. Which one shows depends on awareness, circumstances and the people around you, not on the dvara itself.
In the Dvara Method, if a planet sat in this 5.625° slice of the zodiac at your birth, or about 88 days before it, dvara 42 is part of your chart. It belongs to the Life Force centre, which governs life force, work energy and fertility, and sits in the Svadhisthana chakra.
On its own it is an open dvara: a quality you have access to, but one that reaches for a partner. It completes a channel only when its partner dvara is also present: 53. That partner can come from your own chart, from another person's chart, or from a passing transit. When it does, the Life Force centre becomes defined, and the channel's energy becomes a consistent part of you or of the relationship.
With dvara 53 · Gradual Development in the Root centre
Energy for beginning, developing and completing. Maturing by finishing what has been started.
The Dvara Method teaches that a dvara you were not born with can still be developed through contemplation. The quality to cultivate here is: Growth by example: copy the good you see and correct your own faults. The Sun spends about six days in this dvara each year (around 11 April to 16 April), and the Moon passes through it roughly every 27 days, which makes natural times to practise.
