Dvara 8 · Holding Together

Bringing people together: become a steady centre others can gather around.

Throat centre · Vishuddha chakra · hexagram 8 of the I Ching

The gift

Contribution through example. It shows what is distinctive in you so that others can join with it.

The shadow

Needing to be seen as special; forcing an image instead of letting what is real show.

Every dvara has both. Which one shows depends on awareness, circumstances and the people around you, not on the dvara itself.

When you carry dvara 8

In the Dvara Method, if a planet sat in this 5.625° slice of the zodiac at your birth, or about 88 days before it, dvara 8 is part of your chart. It belongs to the Throat centre, which governs expression and making things happen, and sits in the Vishuddha chakra.

On its own it is an open dvara: a quality you have access to, but one that reaches for a partner. It completes a channel only when its partner dvara is also present: 1. That partner can come from your own chart, from another person's chart, or from a passing transit. When it does, the Throat centre becomes defined, and the channel's energy becomes a consistent part of you or of the relationship.

Channel through dvara 8

Channel 1-8 · Creative Example

With dvara 1 · The Creative in the Self centre

Original self-expression made visible. The urge to contribute something uniquely your own and let it stand as an example for others.

Cultivating dvara 8

The Dvara Method teaches that a dvara you were not born with can still be developed through contemplation. The quality to cultivate here is: Bringing people together: become a steady centre others can gather around. The Sun spends about six days in this dvara each year (around 15 May to 21 May), and the Moon passes through it roughly every 27 days, which makes natural times to practise.

Dvara 8 occupies the same slice of the zodiac as hexagram 8 of the I Ching. If you know the 64 gates from Human Design, it corresponds to gate 8. The Dvara Method is independent and reads it in its own words.
